Hunter Drama Festival

Monday 14 and Tuesday 15 September 2026 (Term 3 Week 9)

• 9 am to 4 pm (technical and dress rehearsals)
• 6:30 pm performance

Venue update: the 2026 Hunter Drama Festival will now be held at the Civic Playhouse.

• The allocation of each performance will be determined by the schools involved. The intention is to have the primary and secondary items join on each performance night based on content.

Tickets

• $15 and 12 per person
• Tickets can be purchased via the Civic Theatre website.
• Please encourage your school community to support your students at this performance. 

The festival is focusing on the process and the performance. We are gathering registered entries to put the performances together. You are not required to have a performance ready prior to this registration. Your intention to participate is all that is required, and then we will meet with you to gather further information about how we can provide support to you and your students throughout the development process throughout Term 2. This may include skills-based workshops or teacher support for the development of performance items.

• Schools from across the region are invited to be part of the Hunter Drama Festival by simply completing the online registration form to advise us that you are intending to participate.
• Please complete the 2026 Hunter Regional Drama Festival registration form.
• Performances can be up to 7 minutes in length and include up to 30 students.
• In 2026, you will be asked to submit a video of your performance by Term 3 Week 5, if I do not see it in a workshop, so we can ensure we establish the shows appropriately. This year there may be some primary and secondary performances mixed within each show.

Once entries have been received, I will contact teachers to discuss the development of your piece and how support will be allocated to you and your students.
