Professional practice day with Annabelle McEwen, MFA Artist and Educator – Printmaking, School of Art & Design UNSW.

Sulman Prize Finalist Emily Galicek is a painter whose artworks engage with the concept of decorative design. Emily is drawn to historical and domestic interior design such as upholstery and wallpapers, using these to create digital collages which are translated into hand-painted canvases. Annabelle McEwen is an Artist and educator with a Masters in majoring in Printmaking. McEwen’s practice is concerned with the impact of extractive digital technologies. Employing both analogue and digital methods of Printmaking, Photography and Sculpture, they use performance of the body as a conduit for investigation. McEwen was a speaker at The International Printmaking Conference, The Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design, Wrocław, Poland in 2026. They were a finalist in The National Photographic Portrait Prize at The National Portrait Gallery, Canberra in 2024 among others. Their work has featured in many exhibitions, recently including Myth Makers at Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf.

This printmaking workshop will integrate both digital and analogue modes of making, layering various methods into multi-layered prints. With a focus on Screenprinting and Risography, the workshop will cover techniques including mono printing, photo emulsion exposure and zine making. Participants will leave with a diverse toolkit that can be utilised in future practice and shared with students.

Full-day workshop

• Government schools $300 (direct debit to schools)
• Non-government schools $400 GST inclusive (please pay via the payment portal)
