The Big Quest to Save the Music!
By Emelia Hodge, Year 1, Queanbeyan West Public School
A Spectacular short story
Once upon a time there were three girls. Their names were Macie, Indie, and Emmey. They were orphans, living in an adoption centre. The girls saw in a newspaper that a music concert was going to be cancelled. They had to save the music concert. They told an adult at the adoption centre their plan and asked if they could go and that they would explain when they come back. The music concert was going to be cancelled, because the man who was singing, his wife just died so he had to go to her funeral. Macie, Indie, and Emmey were all great singers.
The very next night the girls left. They had to run after a train and jump in.
On the train there was hay and apples and the girls all fell asleep in the hay. The very next morning the girls woke up and the train stopped in the middle of nowhere. The girls hopped out and into the open space. They found a map of where they had to go to get to the music concert. It was tricky. There were lots of different ways to go. They could either go the long way that was the safe way, or they could go the short way, but the short way was hard.
Since the music concert was very soon, they had to take the short way.
The first obstacle Indie was afraid of. It was a tight rope. Indie is afraid of heights. The girls tried to remind her that they had to save the music concert, and they were running out of time. Emmey and Macie started to sing ‘Cover me in Sunshine’, and Indie likes singing, and it made her less afraid and overcome her fear.
Since Indie was feeling confident, they were able to cross the tightrope successfully and safely.
They then had to check the map. The map said the next challenge was a laser trap. Emmey says “I don’t like laser traps.” They walked until they reached the obstacle which was the laser trap. Indie and Macie came up with the idea to tell Emmey a story because she likes stories. The story was about a little girl who really wanted to do gymnastics, but her parents were poor. Emmey overcame her fear of the laser trap from listening to the story because, in the end she got to go to gymnastics and Emmey really wanted to save the music concert.
They all were safely through the laser trap they had to check the map again.
The next obstacle was a dark jungle and Macie is afraid of the dark. Emmey and Indie asked Macie if she would like to play a game. They played ‘What animal am I?’ as they walked through the jungle, Macie overcame her fear and then they got out of the jungle and were at the music concert.
They told the man they are great singers, and they can save the music concert. The man said yes, and the music concert was the best and everyone loved it. Because the girls helped each other they could save the music concert with teamwork to overcome their fears.
