This program will educate students in Japanese taiko style drumming techniques. Led by our experienced tutor Graham Hilgendorf, director of YuNiOn. During these active and engaging one-day workshops students and teachers will learn about the taiko, playing in an ensemble and simple music arrangements, which culminate in performance work that can be taken back to school and shared with the school community.

Up to 10 students per school can attend the in-person workshops as a group with a supervising teacher.

  • Tuesday 26 August – Canterbury South Public School
  • Wednesday 27 August – Rooty Hill High School
  • Thursday 28 August – Warilla High School 
  • Friday 29 August – online 

Workshop information

  • Face-to-face workshops from 9:30 am – 2:30 pm.
  • Participation fee: $35.00 per student for face to face workshops and $130 per school of online workshops of up to 30 students. 
  • Open to all Year 3 to 12 students

Refund policy

If you are unable to attend the workshop, you have up to seven days to submit a refund request. Please email your request to [email protected]. Refunds will only be processed in cases of extenuating circumstances. 

Attendance

The program starts at 9:30 am and concludes at 2:30 pm. Please note that this may mean your students will need to arrange alternate transport to and from school on these days in order to attend the full program. Arriving late and leaving early is disruptive to the tutors and other students in the program.

Application process

Students attending workshops with a teacher

  1. Up to 10 students per school can attend the in-person workshops as a group. Participation fee is $35 per student.
