Bibliophile is the result of my intimate relationship with my books – their content and the internal worlds into which they lead me, their physicality and tangible presence in my life. My works magnify and illuminate this relationship, cutting across stereotypical, expected images, and replacing them with cropped, ambiguous photographs. They are designed to engage and delight the viewer with their intense detail, moonscape forms and muted autumnal tones – reminiscent of old and precious texts. Bibliophile was a labour of love, involving hours of fine colouring, shading and the gradual construction of a multi-layered work. Just like reading a good book, really.
