I decided that my family would be the theme of my work because I wanted to do a subject that had special significance to me. The technique I used was quite time consuming. I cut out newspaper and rubbed charcoal onto the pieces, then reassembled them on a large roll of paper. At times it seemed never-ending, but I'm glad I persevered.
