Being surrounded by heavy industry and making a visual statement about its enormous size was my primary concern. Although the steelworks play a vital role economically, there will always be a concern environmentally. I found the many different shapes, forms and colour of specific buildings quite interesting. This in turn led me to explore printmaking as a form that could show a range of contrasting features, including the attempt to make the steelworks environmentally friendly by the addition of trees within the industrial complex.
