Instrumental Ensembles – application form 2025

Applications are now open

Applications will close on Monday 7 October at 5 pm.


Live auditions for the 2025 Instrumental Music Ensembles will be held on Saturday 26 October and Sunday 27 October 2024.


Application process

  1. Complete the following web form application.
  2. Refer to the audition requirements for your instrument/s.
  3. Start preparing and practicing for your audition!
  4. A link will be emailed to you on Friday 11 October with access to the set excerpt/s.
  5. Your audition will be scheduled on either Saturday 26 October or Sunday 27 October and will be held at The Arts Unit at Lewisham Public School. You will receive your scheduled audition time via email on Monday 14 October.

  • Approximate standard for our intermediate ensembles (Symphonic Wind Orchestra, Stage Band and String Sinfonia) is AMEB grade 4+.
  • Approximate standard for our advanced ensembles (Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Jazz Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra) is AMEB grade 6+.
  • Please see audition requirements for more information about instrument standard.
  • If you wish to apply for our advanced ensembles, please prepare 'set A'. (Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Jazz Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra)
  • If you wish to apply for our intermediate ensembles please prepare 'set B'. (Symphonic Wind Orchestra, Stage Band and String Sinfonia)
  • If you are unsure about which would be most appropriate for you, please consult with your instrumental teacher.

Fees

The annual membership fees for 2025 are $500 per ensemble (paid as $250 per semester).

Plus, new members will need to pay $45 for a performance shirt.

Important information

In the event of injury, no personal injury insurance cover is provided by the NSW Department of Education for students in relation to school sporting activities, physical education lessons or any other school activity. The department’s public liability cover is fault-based and limited to breaches by the department of its duty of care to students that may result in claims for compensation.

Parents/carers are advised to assess the level and extent of their child’s involvement in the activity when deciding whether additional insurance cover is required prior to their child’s involvement in the program. Personal accident insurance cover is available through normal retail insurance outlets.
