The committee have organised a PL workshop for interested teachers. This TPL will focus on the planning phase of choreography, guiding participants through the abstraction process and demonstrating how to effectively utilise the syllabus to create a dance piece suitable for Festival. The session will also include dedicated time to plan your choreography, begin developing movement, and receive feedback on costume and music selections. Please bring a notepad, pen, and any current ideas, and be prepared to engage in practical movement activities. A detailed schedule for the day will be provided closer to the event.

The NSW Public Schools Sydney Dance Ensembles support talented students in Years 4 to 12 to develop their skills and experience in dance. The program provides students with a pathway to explore and extend their interest in dance within a supportive environment, training in works aligned to syllabus outcomes and gaining practical performance experience throughout the year.

Ensembles meet weekly for after-school rehearsals at the Australian College of Physical Education (ACPE), Sydney Olympic Park. Participation is by audition and open to students enrolled in NSW public schools.

This program provides an opportunity for talented Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander dance students from across Western NSW, on Wiradjuri Country, to extend their skills and deepen their cultural connection under the mentorship of renowned Wiradjuri choreographer Jo Clancy.

The ensemble nurtures a love of dance through workshop-based rehearsals and performance experiences, developing students’ technique and performance quality across both traditional and contemporary styles. Participants have the opportunity to perform at the Western NSW Dance Festivals (Bathurst and Dubbo), enriching and extending their school-based dance programs.
