Greater Western Sydney dance ensembles
Greater Western Sydney dance ensembles are an opportunity for talented Years 3 to 12 students at NSW public schools to learn and rehearse dance works in preparation for performing at the Synergy Dance Festival.
Students in the ensembles are also given opportunities to audition for the State Dance Festival.

Auditions
Audition applications are now open and close Friday 11 April (Term 1 Week 11). Further information will be sent to applicants no later than Monday 14 April.

Friday 2 May 2025 (Term 2 Week 1)
Schedule
- Primary ensemble (Years 3 to 6): 9 am– 11:30 am
- Secondary ensemble (Years 7 to 12): 12:30 pm–3 pm
Venue
Nepean Creative and Performing Arts High School
NB: Venue for the primary and secondary ensembles is the same for the auditions but will be different for the rehearsals.
Workshops
Greater Western Sydney dance ensembles develop, foster and nurture the talent of dance students through a 4-day intensive workshop, and 2-day rehearsal.
Dates
Choreographic intensive: Tuesday 13 to Friday 16 May 2025 (Term 2 Week 3)
Rehearsal for Synergy Dance Festival: Thursday 12 to Friday 13 June 2025 (Term 2 Week 7)
Pending successful nomination for 2025 State Dance Festival, one additional rehearsal will be scheduled in the weeks before the festival in Term 3 2025.

9 am– 3 pm

- Primary dance ensemble: Nepean Creative and Performing Arts High School
- Secondary dance ensemble: Plumpton High School
Cost
$200 per student
Payment for Greater Western Sydney dance ensembles will be made to the student's school on receipt of student acceptance to the ensemble. Schools will be automatically debited for student participation in the program via SAP journal entry from Plumpton High School leading up to the program.
Performances
Synergy Dance Festival
Date: Monday 16 June 2025 (Term 2 Week 8)
- Technical rehearsals from 3 pm
- Performances at 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm
Venue: EVAN Theatre, Penrith

If you are a casual, temporary or permanent dance teacher employed by the Department of Education and would like to be involved as a dance tutor for the Greater Western Sydney dance ensembles, please complete dance tutor application form and notify the program coordinator of your application. In your form, please select the following options:
