Local arts program Drama

In the Spotlight Play Day is an outreach drama program that provides public school students from Preschool to Year 8 with an innovative and inspiring opportunity to authentically engage in the Drama and English syllabus.

The program is open to a class or ensemble group of between 18 to 30 students from Preschool to Year 8.

Participating school groups work with an experienced drama tutor at a one-day workshop to create a play-built drama piece to be performed at the In the Spotlight Play Day showcase.

Following the workshop day, each class or group will have the ‘framework’ of their own play, which will continue to be built and rehearsed with their teacher.

Students have the opportunity to perform their work for other participating school students at a professional performance venue.

Tutors are experienced in using play building with children and the program allows teachers to develop their understanding of how to use drama in the classroom to enrich learning experiences across the key learning areas.
