NSW Public Schools Recorder Camp
Students from NSW public schools in Years 5 to 12 are invited to apply for the NSW Public Schools Recorder Camp. This annual 4 day residential recorder camp culminates in performances at the Festival of Instrumental Music.
Students will have the opportunity to work with some of Australia's leading recorder players and educators to develop their music skills and recorder playing technique, learn historic and contemporary repertoire, and experience playing in a recorder orchestra and small ensembles.
2026 camp
Dates
- Camp dates: 5 pm Tuesday 7 April – 4 pm Friday 10 April 2026 (School holidays)
- Performance date: Festival of Instrumental Music, Wednesday 23 September (Term 3, Week 10)
Cost
- Sydney metropolitan student participation fee: $510
- Students from rural and remote schools: $382.50

How to apply
- Applications for the 2026 camp are now open and will close on Friday 27 February 2026 (Term 1, Week 5). Please complete the online application form.
- Students who play recorder are welcome to apply, especially those who play treble, tenor and bass in addition to descant.
- Students are required to have experience with playing their instrument and music reading skills.
- Students with no extended recorder ensemble program at their schools are strongly encouraged to apply.
Staff applications
Expressions of interest for tutor and conductor positions on the 2026 NSW PS Recorder Camp closed on Friday 5 December 2025. Applicants will be notified of the outcome no later than Friday 19 December 2025.
