Riverina Senior Drama Workshop
This program is designed for public school students in Years 11 and 12 studying Stage 6 Drama, as well as Drama teachers looking for professional development.
Students and staff will be immersed in 3 workshops directly related to the core components of the Drama syllabus, focusing on maximising outcomes by understanding requirements of the projects, marking guidelines and development of practical work. Activities will centre around the Australian essay, the Group Performance (GP) and Individual Project (IP), all guided by an experienced HSC teacher.

Proposed schedule
Session 1 – The Drama Essay
Students will gain an understanding of the language and content required in a Drama Essay. They will unpack the rubric and experience approaches for planning an essay and how this can be applied to Drama. Students will be given tips for good study habits and practise techniques for essay writing.
Session 2 – Individual Project
This session will focus on decoding the marking criteria and feedback from the marking centre. Discussion will cover how this feedback applies to practical projects and how it can be used to inform and guide the devising process. Following the discussion session, students will split into IP groups to focus on specialty areas. Students should bring their IP logbook to the session.
Session 3 – Group Performance
A practical session where students will experiment with new possibilities for playbuilding. Areas such as movement, playing with tension and creating simple narratives will be covered. Students will collaborate to create a combined schools performance as the culmination of the session.
