Senior music composition workshop
The Senior Music Composition Workshops are a series of full-day workshops for Years 11 and 12 Music 2 students from NSW public schools and their teachers delivered in collaboration with regional conservatoriums.
Led by experienced teachers and composers, participants will deepen their understanding of the concepts of music, gaining skills and knowledge to compose their own pieces individually and collaboratively with students accross schools who play different instruments.

Eligibility
In 2025, the workshop has been designed for Year 11 and 12 students who are studying Preliminary and HSC Music 2 at NSW Public Schools. Music 1 students with an identified interest in composition are also invited to attend.
This workshop has been designed for teachers to attend with their students to provide Duty of Care. If teachers are wishing to send students without accompanying them, please ensure this is indicated in the application.
Cost
- $20.00 per student
- Schools will be responsible for collecting participation fees from their students.
- Schools will be automatically direct debited for their participation in the workshop.
How to apply
Online applications for 2026 are now open. Applications close on Monday 27 April 2026 (Term 2 Week 2).
Students of schools who have applied are required to complete an online permission and authority to publish form by Friday 8 May 2026 (Term 2 Week 3).
Teachers, are required to collect their own excursion permission forms and follow their schools excursion processes.
