Western NSW Dance Ensembles is a selective ensemble program for dancers from public schools across Western NSW. 

There are 2 ensembles:

  • Western NSW Junior Dance Ensemble – Years 5 to 8 students
  • Western NSW Senior Dance Ensemble – Years 8 to 12 students

The ensemble program aims to provide access to high-quality dance education, foster the development of talented dance students and provide performance opportunities that showcase excellence in this art form.

Students in the ensembles work with specialist dance teachers and other like-minded students to rehearse and perform dance works for the Western NSW Dance Festival and audition to perform at the State Dance Festival in Sydney. 

2024

Western NSW Junior Dance Ensemble

  • For full details about the Junior Dance Ensemble go to the Western NSW Junior Dance Ensemble Google site.
  • Interested students are required to have a parent/carer complete the Western NSW Dance Ensembles application form by Friday 15 March 2024 (Term 1 Week 7).
  • Following the close of applications, school principals will be contacted to endorse the participation of the nominating students.
  • All students who apply will attend the first rehearsal on Thursday 21 March 2024 (Term 1 Week 8) from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm at Orange High School.
  • Following this rehearsal, the choreographers will nominate students for selection into the Ensemble for 2024.

  • Ensemble members must be available for all of the following workshop rehearsal days:

    • Thursday 21 March 2024 (Term 1 Week 8) 9:30 am to 2:00 pm (rehearsal and selection)

    • Tuesday 7 May and Wednesday 8 May (Term 2 Week 2) 9:30 am to 2:00 pm

    • Monday 27 May (Term 2 Week 5) 9:30 am to 2:00 pm

  • Host venue for rehearsals:  Orange High School – Corner Woodward Street and Coronation Drive, Orange

Western NSW Senior Dance Ensemble

  • For full details about the Senior Dance Ensemble, go to the Western NSW Senior Dance Ensemble Google site.
  • Interested students are required to have a parent/carer complete the Western NSW Dance Ensembles application form by Thursday 28 March 2024 (Term 1 Week 9).
  • Following the close of applications, school principals will be contacted to endorse the participation of the nominating students.
  • All students who apply will attend the first rehearsal on Wednesday 3 April 2024 (Term 1 Week 10) from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm at Cowra High School.
  • Following this rehearsal, the choreographers will nominate students for selection into the Ensemble for 2024.

  • Ensemble members must be available for all of the following workshop rehearsal days:

    • Wednesday 3 April 2024 (Term 1 Week 10) 9:30 am to 2:00 pm (rehearsal and selection)

    • Thursday 2 and Friday 3 May (Term 2 Week 1) 9:30 am to 2:00 pm

    • Monday 27 or Tuesday 28 May (Term 2 Week 5) 9:30 am to 2:00 pm – exact date for this rehearsal TBC

  • Host venue for rehearsals:  Cowra High School – 28 Dowell Street Cowra
