Arts Alive Secondary Choir

Region: Metropolitan North
Years 7 to 12
Local arts program Public schools Music

This program allows individual vocalists to come together to form a choir for workshops and a performance at the Sydney Town Hall.

If you are looking for our choirs that rehearse weekly, please visit Sydney North Public Schools Vocal Ensembles.

The Arts Alive Secondary Choir is an ensemble open to interested vocalists in Years 7 to 12 who are currently enrolled at a NSW public school.

Students will attend two days of workshops and rehearsals where they will work with experienced conductors to learn and refine choral repertoire and perform as part of the Arts Alive Choral Festival at the Sydney Town Hall in August. The ensemble will be conducted by Rachel Kelly and accompanied by Rachel Collis.

Workshop dates

The workshops and performance will be held in Week 4 of Term 3:

  • Sunday 7 August, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm - Workshop at Riverside Theatres, Parramatta
  • Monday 8 August, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm - Workshop at Riverside Theatres, Parramatta
  • Tuesday 9 August, 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm - Rehearsal / sound check at Sydney Town Hall
  • Tuesday 9 August, 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm - Performance at Sydney Town Hall

Students will need to commit to both workshop days and the performance afternoon and evening to participate in this program.

The program is open to any students currently enrolled in Years 7 - 12 at a NSW Public School.

The ensemble will be open to students with a wide range of abilities, however it is important all students who attend have some experience singing, ideally as part of an ensemble. The tutorial program and music selected will ensure that students of all abilities are appropriately challenged within the ensemble situation. All music performed as part of this program will be choral ensemble music - this is not an opportunity for students to showcase their skills as a soloist.

Please note, this program is open to public school students from anywhere in NSW - not just in the Metropolitan North area.
