Available to NSW public school students, with both audition-based and open programs ensuring music is accessible to everyone.

Led by professional tutors and experienced conductors, Bandlink Riverina involves workshops consisting of a large concert band and smaller tutorial sessions, bringing specialised skills to country NSW students from public schools.

Bandlink caters for concert band instrumentalists (along with bass guitarists who read notation) of all levels, from beginner to advanced. Interested public school students from Years 3 to 12 are eligible to apply.

Teachers can register their bands to attend. For schools that do not have a band, students can apply independently.

Workshop dates and cost

Young High School: Mon 23 and Tue 24 Mar 2026 (Term 1 Week 9), $70 per student
Griffith East Public School: Wed 25 to Fri 27 Mar 2026 (Term 1 Week 9), $90 per student

Applications for both mentors and participating teachers will close on Friday 6 March 2026 at 5:00 pm

Music in Me is a national initiative, established in 2016 by the late Richard Gill (OA), with partner Australian Youth Orchestra (AYO). Music in Me creates opportunities for every student to access quality music education in the classroom. It operates across remote, regional and metropolitan Australia.

Experienced K–6 music teachers (mentors) work with participating teachers in their classroom, to build their confidence, skills and practices in delivering valuable music experiences for students.

Music in Me:

focuses on supporting classroom teachers to deliver musical learning in their classroom
provides flexible delivery negotiated between the mentor and participating teacher
does not require specialised equipment or prior knowledge
empowers teachers to confidently embed musical content into their regular teaching practice
is linked to the new NSW Creative Arts K–6 Syllabus: implementation 2027.

Led by a team of experienced conductors and tutors, In 2026 the Greater Western Sydney Instrumental Music Program has expanded to include an opportunity for vocalists to extend their vocal and performance skills in a weekly ensembles.

Cost

There is a participation fee of $150 (GST inclusive) to participate in the 2026 Greater Western Sydney Singers. This fee includes provision of all music and access to expert tutorial staff.
This fee will be payable via The Arts Unit's student payment portal on acceptance into the ensemble.
Students are encouraged to approach their school for financial assistance if required.
In addition, an ensemble performance shirt will be required to be purchased by each participating student if they do not already own one from the GWS Public Schools Instrumental Music Program.
