Nominations are open to students in Years 5 to 12 in 2027 who will be enrolled at a NSW public school.

The drama ensemble will work with a professional director to devise a piece for the arena, set to one of the pieces of music in the show. 

Students applying to be part of the drama ensemble should have some experience performing in drama projects with ensembles and working collaboratively with other students, both from within their school and from other schools. 

Please note, this category is only open to individual performers. Students selected as members of the drama ensemble will not be able to participate with their school group in an additional category.

Successful students will require the endorsement of their school principal to participate. Students are encouraged to discuss their nomination with a teacher at their school prior to submission.

Nominations are open to students in Years 5 to 12 in 2027 who will be enrolled at a NSW public school. 

The principal choir will provide the basis for the choral sound for the show.

Students applying to be part of the principal choir should be experienced at singing in ensembles and holding both basic and complex vocal parts within an ensemble setting. 

Please note, this category is only open to individual performers. Students selected as members of the principal choir will not be able to participate with their school group in massed choir.

Successful students will require the endorsement of their school principal to participate. Students are encouraged to discuss their nomination with a teacher at their school prior to submission.

This year all auditions for the principal choir will be live auditions. On the nomination form, you will be asked to preference which date you would like your audition to take place – either Saturday 11 or Sunday 12 October at The Arts Unit Lewisham. From this audition, the principal choir will be selected.

Vocalists selected via the audition process will be formed into various combinations for items throughout the show.

This year all auditions for principal vocalists will be live auditions. Once you have completed the nomination form, you will be emailed a link to book a live audition slot. Live auditions will be held at The Arts Unit, Lewisham on Friday 9, Saturday 10 or Sunday 11 October and, from this audition, the final team of principal vocalists will be selected.

Auditions will be via video, which must be submitted with the nomination form.

To audition, students need to submit a video of themselves performing a 1 minute excerpt of their own choice of 2 contrasting pieces.

• These excerpts can be either accompanied or unaccompanied and should be chosen to best demonstrate the student’s ability on their instrument. 
• The Pulse Alive team will also accept audition videos created for other events/ensemble programs or for formal examinations in 2026.
• Students may audition on more than one instrument, but must submit a separate online application and audition video for each instrument they wish to be considered for.

The Pulse Alive team are seeking talented dancers to be part of the Pulse Alive Dance Company (formerly known as principal dancers) for Pulse Alive 2027.

Nominations are open to students in Years 5 to 12 in 2027 who will be enrolled at a NSW public school.

Dancers selected via the audition process will be formed into various combinations for items throughout the show. 

Please note, this category is only open to individual performers. Students selected as principal dancers will not be able to participate with their school group in massed dance or First Nations dance ensemble.

Successful students will require the endorsement of their school principal to participate. Students are encouraged to discuss their nomination with a teacher at their school prior to submission.

All auditions for the Pulse Alive Dance Company will be live auditions. These will be held at The Arts Unit, Lewisham on Sunday 11 October and from this audition the Pulse Alive Dance Company will be selected.

Participation in the ensemble is open to groups of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who currently attend a NSW public school from Kindergarten to Year 12 (in 2027).

Groups comprising students of all abilities are encouraged to nominate.

There is no audition video required to be part of the First Nations dance ensemble and no upper limit on the number of students each school can nominate. We encourage all schools to extend this opportunity to the widest range of students possible.

There is no audition video required to be part of the massed dance cast and no upper limit on the number of students each school can nominate. We encourage all schools to extend this opportunity to the widest range of students possible.

The Pulse Alive team will work with students, parents and schools to any modifications or special provisions required for students with individual needs are met. There is no audition video required to be an individual chorister (massed choir).
