PHOEBE: (sighs]

[door opens]

[door closes]

[loud knocking]

PHOEBE: Time's up. We gotta go.

ADAM: Yeah.

PHOEBE: What do you mean yeah?

ADAM: Hey?

PHOEBE: Just get out of the shower.

[thud]

[door opens]

[clock ticking continues]

[toothbrush brushing]

[clock ticking continues]

[spits, tap water running]

[tap squeaks off]

[door opens]

[door opens]

ADAM: Have you practised?

PHOEBE: Yeah.

ADAM: Oh, of course, you have.

[tunes guitar]

[paper rustling]

PHOEBE: Are you ready?

ADAM: Yep.

[paper rustling]

PHOEBE: What are you doing?

ADAM: That's a trick question.

PHOEBE: You know what you should be doing?

ADAM: Tell me.

[light switch off]

[light switch off]

Who's that?

PHOEBE: It's Emily.

[papers rustling]

ADAM: Ugh. Do you have a paperclip?

PHOEBE: I'm sorry.

ADAM: That is OK. Do you have a paperclip? I need to sort this out.

PHOEBE: We have a stapler. Why didn't you do this last night?

ADAM: Err, I got busy.

PHOEBE: OK, so why did you tell me that you did this last night?

ADAM: Umm, I don't like it when you stress.

PHOEBE: [laughs derisively]

ADAM: There's no point in making you worry.

PHOEBE: Thanks, but I'm stressed and I have ample reason to be stressed. We need to be out of this house by 8:00.

[papers rustling]

Stop! Just let me do it, OK?

[papers rustling]

Go!

[papers rustling]

Weaponised incompetence.

[papers rustling]

ADAM: Hey, what's this really about?

PHOEBE: What?

ADAM: I mean, this happens at every time. Surely, you expect it by now. Why are you so pissed this time?

PHOEBE: Is it so hard to believe that I want you to pull your own weight?

ADAM: A little. Yeah. I mean, you always do this.

PHOEBE: Exactly. I'm the one to always do this. this.

[paper thudding]

You never organise anything. You're not even dressed. Just go. Get ready. I cannot with this today. I'll call the venue and tell them we'll be late.

[papers rustling]

[sighing]

ADAM: No. We need to talk.

PHOEBE: We need to leave.

ADAM: We're not leaving until you tell me what's going on.

PHOEBE: I am telling you. You're choosing not to hear me because being genuinely inconsiderate and lazy doesn't fit into this whole tortured artist vibe. You do this every single time, and no one calls you out on it 'cause they're too upset and worried about annoying you. You gotta figure it out on your own. It's really not that hard.

ADAM: Are you done? Is it all out of your system? I get you're stressed. But there's subtext to everything. And I can't help you unless you're honest with me. I mean, I get the jealousy.

PHOEBE: I am not jealous of you.

ADAM: Well, maybe you should be.

PHOEBE: [scoffs derisively]

Right.

ADAM: I-- I'm sorry. I--

[door slams shut]
