Film By Invitation 2024 – 19. The Crystal Necklace – Wentworth Falls Public School

[wind chimes]

NARRATOR: It was a sunny afternoon, and 2 best friends, Juniper and Harlow, were running through a gumtree forest near their home. This was their favourite place to explore, but today felt different.

HARLOW: Something seems off.

JUNIPER: Yeah, it's like, really odd.

HARLOW: I know, right?

Hey, look, it's our favourite gumtree. Let's go play in it!

JUNIPER: Yeah, let's go.

NARRATOR: As they got closer to their special tree, they both stopped, feeling something was not right. Before their eyes, a crystal necklace appeared, glowing softly in the hollow of the tree stump.

HARLOW: I should climb this tree.

JUNIPER: Probably not.

HARLOW: Worth a try.

JUNIPER: Wow. Harlow, what's that?

HARLOW: I don't know, but it looks cool. Wow.

JUNIPER: It's so shiny.

NARRATOR: Curious and excited, Juniper quickly took the necklace from Harlow and slipped it over her head. The moment she did, the ground beneath them started to slowly shake.

HARLOW: Why is the ground shaking?

JUNIPER: I have no clue.

NARRATOR: The trees around them moved in the wind, and suddenly, a tall mirror appeared right in front of them. The mirror had an old wooden frame that looked worn and faded. When the girls looked into the mirror, it was like they were looking into another world.

As they stared in wonder a, glowing figure came out of the mirror and stood before them.

WILLOW: Who dares to enter the Mirror Realm?

NARRATOR: She introduces herself as Willow, the guardian of the Gumtree Forest. Willow explains that an evil spirit named Crow had been trying to escape the Mirror Realm and take over the forest.

WILLOW: The necklace you wear is ancient and powerful. It can open doors between our world and yours. But be careful. There is good and evil in both.

JUNIPER: So what do we have to do?

WILLOW: You must be careful. There's an evil spirit called Crow that's been trying to escape the Mirror Realm and take over the Gumtree Forest for ages now. The necklace is the key to keeping her trapped.

NARRATOR: Just as she finished speaking, a dark shadow appeared behind them. It was Crow!

CROW: The necklace belongs to me. Hand it over, or the Gumtree Forest will be mine!

NARRATOR: Juniper and Harlow were scared, but they looked at each other and knew they had to work together. Harlow grabbed Juniper's hand, and together they held the crystal. The crystal began to glow brighter and brighter. Their friendship and courage gave it strength.

Crow began to lose her strength. Crow cried out.

CROW: Ahh!

NARRATOR: Crow was getting pulled back into the mirror. With one final flash, Crow was trapped forever. The mirror faded away, and Willow smiled at the girls, thanking them for saving the Gumtree Forest.

As they walked home, the crystal stopped glowing but remained a beautiful reminder of their adventure.

JUNIPER: Do you think we'll ever have to use this again?

HARLOW: I hope not, but just in case.

JUNIPER: Yeah.

NARRATOR: Wind rustled through the gumtrees as if to say more fun adventures were still coming their way.
