NARRATOR 1: Did you know that many Aboriginal artworks contain symbols that tell a story? 4P has learnt about some of these symbols and used them to create our own story. Watch as our artwork comes to life. 'The Greedy Men.'

NARRATOR 2: Long, long ago, a huge flood wiped out the tribe's village. The flood formed a beautiful river. Lots and lots of animals and men hunted and drank water from it.

[no speech]

NARRATOR 1: The kind women worked together to gather lots of berries, fruits, and bugs whilst the men hunted for fresh fish and meat.

[no speech]

Every night, the women would come together and split all of the food.

[no speech]

Soon, the women got suspicious because for 10 nights in a row, the fat and full men said they didn't catch any fish. But if you listened earlier, you would have heard they were full. They must have eaten the fish.

[no speech]

NARRATOR 3: The women decided that they would have a meeting. At the meeting, the women decided not to share the food in winter. The women gathered all the food they could find and organised a meeting place.

[no speech]

NARRATOR 1: The next day, all of the women snuck out without the men looking and hurried to the meeting place.

[no speech]

Once all of the women were there, they decided that they would hide the grubs and berries behind a big sand hill.

[no speech]

NARRATOR 2: When winter came, the men got skinnier and skinnier. The men starved while the women had warm berry soup and hot witchetty grubs. Over the winter, all the men got skinnier and skinnier, but the women didn't.

[no speech]

NARRATOR 3: The women noticed the men starving and started to feel really bad.

[no speech]

NARRATOR 1: The women told the greedy men that they knew that the men stole the fish. They asked the men if they would still be greedy. All the men promised not to be greedy.

NARRATOR 2: The women agreed to share, but if the men were greedy again, they would have to face the mean consequences.

[no speech]

NARRATOR 3: Then the sand hill that the women hid the berries behind turned into a beautiful rainbow. Everyone lived happily, and no one was ever greedy again.

NARRATOR 1: The moral of the story is, never be greedy.
