NARRATOR: At our school, our parents go to a lot of effort each day to make us healthy lunch boxes with fruit and sandwiches. Each day, we take our lunch boxes to school and meet up with our friends at lunchtime to eat our food.
But today, we noticed a big problem. We saw so much of that fresh food being thrown in the bin. And all of it went to waste. And all of that was perfectly good food, just wasted.
We knew we had to do something about it. We decided to create a green team at our school. The green team educated students and staff on how to recycle their food scraps. And they created a green waste system. This system involves composting our food scraps in the school veggie garden.
Each day, the green team collects bowls of food wasted from around the school and places them in the compost bin. We also take some of the scraps home and feed it to our animals, which they love.
STUDENTS: Great work, green team!
