ABBEY: As someone from a rural area, the workshop-based ensemble allows me to meet up and connect with other dancers from all across the state.
TED: I grew as a person by talking to people I would have never talked to that live a long way away from me. And I grew as a dancer because my teachers pushed me to be the best dancer I could be.
EDEN: My favourite part about being in the State Dance Ensemble is, when we first met, all our friendships were really strong. And when we came back after our 3 months apart, it's like our friendships are still the exact same, and it's like we formed a dance family around the state.
ALLIRA: I think that the Arts Unit has helped me grow as a person and as a dancer by building my confidence, by building my social life and making new friends. And considering I'm interested in moving to Sydney, it has helped me recognise and notice more dance schools and general schools that I can possibly go to.
MITCHELL: I decided to join the State Dance Ensemble because of my passion for dance, and being able to work with other students, sharing their passion for dance, is an experience I'll be able to remember for the rest of my life.
ANAIS: If you're thinking about joining the State Dance Ensemble, I think you definitely should. It's a very good experience. Everyone is so supportive and nice. And learning a dance for 5 days and coming back in months later and performing it, it's definitely going to set you up for your later dancing life, which is really great.
CHLOE: And what I'd say to future students wanting to join the ensemble is absolutely do it. It's been one of the best experiences of my high school life.
