The Arts Unit is seeking motivated and experienced teachers to join the Western NSW Dance Festival committee in Dubbo. This team will play a vital role in shaping the artistic direction, planning, and delivery of the 2026 WNSW Dance Festival – Dubbo showcase. Committee members will collaborate to develop high quality performance opportunities for students, support choreographers and participating schools, and contribute to the coordination of key festival events.

This position plays a vital role in supporting (HPGE) students from across the region and ensuring the smooth running of key dance activities and events throughout the year.

Eligibility

Applicants must be current NSW Department of Education teachers (primary or secondary) working within Western NSW.

Selection criteria

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

  • strong organisational and time management skills
  • excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • capacity to work collaboratively with students, staff, and external partners
  • a commitment to student wellbeing and safety.

Key responsibilities

Collaboratively with the Arts Coordination Officer – Western NSW, the committee will:

  • provide advice on festival programming, choreography, and artistic direction
  • support the coordination of rehearsals and performance events
  • assist in developing resources, communications, and processes that enhance participation and teacher capacity
  • foster positive relationships with schools, teachers, students, and community partners
  • contribute to decision making related to logistics, venues, production, and operational needs
  • promote safe, inclusive, and professional standards in all aspects of the festival.

Commitment

This role involves attendance via scheduled teams meetings throughout the year.

Western NSW Dance Festival (Dubbo showcase) dates and venue: 

  • Monday 25 May (Term 2 Week 6) 
  • Thursday 26 May (Term 2 Week 6) 

Host venue: Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre

Important information

In the event of injury, no personal injury insurance cover is provided by the NSW Department of Education for students in relation to school sporting activities, physical education lessons or any other school activity. The department’s public liability cover is fault-based and limited to breaches by the department of its duty of care to students that may result in claims for compensation.

Parents/carers are advised to assess the level and extent of their child’s involvement in the activity when deciding whether additional insurance cover is required prior to their child’s involvement in the program. Personal accident insurance cover is available through normal retail insurance outlets.
