CApture Film Festival is a celebration of creativity and inspiration designed to spotlight students' remarkable talents in Years 9, 10 and 11. Our festival is not just about showcasing films; it's about nurturing the future of storytelling through the power of the lens.
CApture Film Festival is back for 2026!
Open exclusively to NSW public school students, this exciting competition invites young filmmakers to showcase their creativity and storytelling skills. All entries must incorporate the 2026 signature item. This year's signature item is – remote – how you include it is up to you!
Selected films will premiere at a red-carpet screening at AFTRS on Wednesday 11 November 2026, celebrating the next generation of storytellers. Whether you're an experienced filmmaker or creating your first film, this is your chance to shine.
Submissions are open! Please enter your film by Wednesday 16 September 2026.
About the CApture Film Festival
CApture Film Festival is a showcase supported by the NSW Department of Education’s CApture filmmaking resource. The interactive resource supports students to produce their own short films as they are guided by interviews from award-winning industry experts, real-world short film examples and engaging activities.
Submitted films from Years 9, 10 and 11 students are between 3 and 5 minutes in duration, include the signature item and adhere to the guidelines of a PG-rated film.
The inaugural CApture Film Festival took place at Hoyts Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park on Tuesday 14 November 2023. Senior departmental officers, sponsors and the creators of the CApture filmmaking resource were present for this remarkable occasion.
