Yandelora School is located in the south-western suburbs of Sydney on traditional Dharawal land.

This semester at Yandelora School, students have been studying the works of Australian landscape artists, in particular Kate Shaw.

Students have used painting techniques inspired by her work, including marbling and using mirror images to create the illusion of reflective surfaces.

A marble paper art landscape collage. The canvas is divided into 2 equal halves – top and bottom. The top half features 6 mountains of various shapes and sizes cut from marble art paper against a red, orange and yellow background. The bottom half mirrors the same mountain range against a blue and green background.

What did the students and teachers have to say?

  • ‘I like how the use of colour draws the eye to the horizon.’ – Cathie (teacher)
  • ‘It’s a reflection.’ – Kiera (student, Year 10)
  • ‘I like the mountains.’ – Amelia (student, Year 10)
