Impact

Junior Dance Ensemble

Impact

NSW Public Schools Junior Dance Ensemble
Director/Tutor
: Lexy Panetta

Duration: 4:33

Through a series of virtual, improvisational workshops, students described and engaged with their surroundings to create movement impacted by the environment and these locations. The collaborative work explores our space as we transitioned from the studio to the confines of our homes and as the dancers worked as a fragmented ensemble, striving to unify. While the dancers evoke time's impacts, they consider connection and unity to dissolve the spatial and physical barriers separating us.

Colour, by definition, is; the property possessed by an object of producing different sensations on the eye as a result of the way it reflects or emits light. This work explores how different colours are embellished as the sun tracks around the earth. The impact and influence colour and light have on an individual and inspire that expression through movement.

Anger, frustration, loneliness, peace and surrendering.

Our Senior Ensemble 2 found their emotional voices in this video project, portraying their various feelings surrounding the events of the last 2 years. Through movements and creative work, they successfully expressed their deep inner thoughts. Building their personal voices and vocabularies, these talented students created a work that will allow them to look back and see how historical events shaped their lives.
