Drama Ensembles - application form

Applications are now open for students in Years 5, 6, 7 and 8.

Applications close on Friday 12 May 2023

  • Students in Years 5 and 6 can attend a live audition workshop from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Sunday 28 May 2023.
  • Students in Years 7 and 8 can attend a live audition workshop from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday 28 May 2023.

    ​​​​The NSW Public Schools Drama Ensembles develop high potential and gifted students in drama. Ensemble tutors are drawn from Arts Unit experts and industry professionals.

    Students perform in events such as the State Drama Festival, and potentially the Schools Spectacular.

    • Senior Drama Ensembles - Years 9, 10 and 11.
    • Junior Drama Ensembles - Years 7 and 8.
    • Primary Drama Ensembles - Years 5 and 6.

    The Senior, Junior and Primary Drama Ensembles rehearse on Wednesday afternoons and occasional Sundays at The Arts Unit in Lewisham during school terms.

    Program commencement dates

    • Year 9, Year 10 and Year 11 Ensembles - Wednesday 8 March 2023
    • Year 5, Year 6, Year 7 and Year 8 Ensembles - Wednesday 19 July 2023. 

    Application process 

    1. Complete the webform application below and include your parent consent.
    2. Your school principal will receive an email once you submit this application and be asked to endorse your inclusion, if successful, in the State Drama Ensemble program. 
    3. Attend the live audition on Sunday 28 May 2023 at the time you have chosen. No preparation is required.

        Audition requirements

        • Auditions will be in a workshop format of warm-up, movement and improvisation skills
        • All students are to wear comfortable clothing and bring a bottle of water.

            What happens next

            • Live auditions will be held for Year 5 to 8 students on Sunday 28 May 2023.
            • Parents/students will be emailed after this date the outcome of the audition.

            Fees

            • The annual membership fee for each drama ensemble in 2023 is $385, including GST.
