State Choir – student application form 2024

Applications are now open!

  • Applications will close on Thursday 30 May.
  • Students will be notified of the outcome of their application via email on Monday 3 June.

The State Choir is open to all NSW public school students in Years 8 to 12 and are a combination of male and female voices.

No audition is required.

Music is sent to students to prepare before the first rehearsal.

The choir meets to rehearse in Sydney before performing on the stage of the Sydney Opera House as part of the Festival of Choral Music.

Rehearsal and performance dates

  • Sunday 11 to Tuesday 13 August 2024

Rehearsal details

  • Sunday 11 August 10 am – 4 pm at Petersham Public School
  • Monday 12 August 10 am – 5 pm at Sydney Opera House
  • Tuesday 13 August 2:30 pm – 5 pm at Sydney Opera House

Performance details

  • Monday 12 August 7pm at Sydney Opera House
  • Tuesday 13 August 7 pm at Sydney Opera House

Fees

  • Metropolitan students: $110 
  • Non-metropolitan students (and rural and remote students): $82.50

Payment is to be made upon acceptance of a successful application.

Important information

In the event of injury, no personal injury insurance cover is provided by the NSW Department of Education for students in relation to school sporting activities, physical education lessons or any other school activity. The department’s public liability cover is fault-based and limited to breaches by the department of its duty of care to students that may result in claims for compensation.

Parents/carers are advised to assess the level and extent of their child’s involvement in the activity when deciding whether additional insurance cover is required prior to their child’s involvement in the program. Personal accident insurance cover is available through normal retail insurance outlets.

  2. communication with parents/carers; and
  3. for the health, safety and welfare of your child.

Parent/caregiver permission

I understand that if my child is accepted into the NSW Public Schools State Choir, I must gain approval from the school principal. I understand my failure to submit this form will result in the withdrawal of my child from the 2024 State Choir.
