Vocal Ensembles – application form 2025

Applications will close on Thursday 31 October. 


Auditions for the Vocal Ensembles will be held live for new applicants on Saturday 7 December at The Arts Unit, Lewisham Public School


The NSW public schools vocal ensembles program has two choirs available to NSW public school students in 2025:

  • The NSW Public Schools Junior Singers (Years 4 to 8)
  • The NSW Public Schools Singers (Years 8 to 12)

Both these ensembles have the same application and audition process.

Application process

  1. Complete the web form application below. 
  2. An email will be sent Friday 1 November outlining a folk song that you will need to prepare for your audition
  3. Your audition will be scheduled on Saturday 7 December and you will be emailed your audition time on Friday 1 November.

Audition requirements

  • In the live audition, you will be given some range exercises (eg. scales / arpeggios)
  • You will need to sing the set piece twice - once with piano accompaniment, and once a cappella (unaccompanied)
  • Students auditioning for the senior ensemble (years 8 - 12) will be given some simple sight-reading.

Fees

The annual membership fees for vocal ensembles for 2025 are $400 (paid as $200 per semester)

Plus, new members will need to pay $45 for a performance shirt.

The provision of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander status or gender status is voluntary, and not providing either of them will not impact on your child’s participation. All other additional support information requested in this form is voluntary.

Important information

In the event of injury, no personal injury insurance cover is provided by the NSW Department of Education for students in relation to school sporting activities, physical education lessons or any other school activity. The department’s public liability cover is fault-based and limited to breaches by the department of its duty of care to students that may result in claims for compensation.

Parents/carers are advised to assess the level and extent of their child’s involvement in the activity when deciding whether additional insurance cover is required prior to their child’s involvement in the program. Personal accident insurance cover is available through normal retail insurance outlets.
