Riverina Wagga Wagga Primary Dance Ensemble
The Riverina Wagga Wagga Primary Dance Ensemble is an auditioned dance ensemble for talented dance students in Year 4 to Year 6 from public schools in Wagga Wagga and surrounding areas to develop their skills above and beyond the school level.
The aim of this ensemble is to provide public school students in primary schools the opportunity to perform in an ensemble at a potential Riverina and State level as well as Schools Spectacular. The Ensemble is also aimed at catering for students who have limited access to dance at their school.
Student in the ensemble work with specialist dance teachers and other like-minded students to rehearse and perform dance works for the Riverina Dance Festival and audition to perform at the State Dance Festival and Schools Spectacular.
The ensemble will be led by Hilary Hill (classroom teacher at Red Hill Public School), Sandy Hodges (classroom teacher at Estella Public School) and Brigette Gollasch.

Audition details
Round 1 audition
- Date: Monday 13 February 2023 (Term 1 Week 4)
- Where: Wagga Wagga High School, Currie Hall
- Registration: 3:30 pm
- Audition time: 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm
The audition will be in the form of a warm-up and then a contemporary dance class. No prepared dance is required. Students should wear clothing suitable to dance in with hair tied back. Students will dance in bare feet during the audition. Please bring a water bottle and snacks. Parents will not be able to view the audition class.
Call back audition
Students successful at the first audition will be required to attend a call back audition on Friday 17 February 2023 (Term 1 Week 4)

Ensemble offers
Offer of places in the Riverina WW Primary Dance Ensemble will be advised on Saturday 18 February 2023 via email with ensemble weekly rehearsals to begin on Monday 20 February 2023 (Term 1 Week 5).
Ensemble information
Rehearsals
- Ensemble rehearsals are held weekly (during school terms) every Monday afternoon from 3:45 pm to 5:00 pm at Wagga Wagga High School
- There may be some extra rehearsals added on a weekend and leading up to performances.
- It is imperative that the selected students make a commitment to the ensemble and turn up to all scheduled rehearsals for the full length of time.
Cost
- Ensemble fee - $200 for the year. This fee covers the cost of an Ensemble singlet and costume for the Riverina Dance Festival.
- This fee needs to be paid to your school by Friday 24 March 2023 (Term 1 Week 9).
- Payment is to be made to the student's school under the heading 2023 Riverina WW Primary Dance Ensemble.

Extra fees will be required in the case of selection for performance excursions to cover travel and accommodation.
Performances
- The ensemble will begin developing a group performance piece to audition for:
- Riverina Dance Festival on Friday 1 June 2023 in Wagga Wagga
- State Dance Festival held during the week of Monday 11 – Friday 15 September 2023 in Sydney.
- Students will also audition for the 2023 Schools Spectacular. The audition video for this is due in April 2023.
- The Schools Spectacular performance dates are 24 and 25 of November 2023 at Qudos Bank Arena in Homebush. If selected for this, students would be required to travel to Sydney and stay from 21 to 26 November 2023.
