Applications are now open for schools to participate.

Attendance

Attending events such as the study day in person is the best option to allow students and staff to collaborate with other schools. However, we do have the ability to deliver this study day as a hybrid model, so schools can attend virtually via zoom for those schools where distance hinders participation.

The teacher session will not be available via Zoom.

Cost

  • $10 per student – for schools attending in person
  • $5 per student - for schools attending virtually

A  journal transfer will be completed following confirmation of numbers and attendance on the day.

Student performers

Each school can nominate two Year 12 performances to perform to the panel and students. Please nominate in order of preference for performing.

Please indicate all relevant information for each performance on the attendance form.  Students performing their practical pieces should bring their own

instruments/cymbals/snare where possible.  Hume Conservatorium will support with instruments as required. We would welcome a couple of Year 12 students who are willing to do their viva as well as their practical.

Sessions

If you would like to assist with leading any of the sessions in conjunction with our guest senior markers, please indicate on the attendance form.  It would be great to have a few teachers’ voices as part of each session.

Lunch

A sausage sizzle lunch for staff and students. This will include sausage sandwiches and drinks. This will be covered in the cost of the participation fee. Please indicate on the attendance form any students with special dietary requirements. Morning tea will also be provided to staff.  Students are required to bring their own morning tea/snacks for the day.  Students are also encouraged to bring a water bottle.

What to bring

Students should bring a notepad and pen to take notes.  It is preferable that this is NOT done on phones or electronic devices to avoid distractions throughout the sessions.

Filming and photography

Students will NOT have permission to film or photograph during sessions.  However, teachers may film or photograph their own students for use at a school level.  Images may be taken by the coordinator for use to promote this event to schools in the future.  Schools that indicate they have students without permission to publish will not be photographed.

Consent

Please ensure all students return the STSMSD student consent and permission to publish form prior to the study day.  These forms should be kept by the school.

Travel

Travel to and from the Hume Conservatorium is the responsibility of the school to coordinate.

RMP

A copy of the study day RMP will be provided to participating schools in Term 1 Week 10.

First aid

A first aid kit will be available at the venue, however, teachers should bring their own first aid kit in line with school excursion policies.  Duty of care, medical information etc are the responsibility of the attending teacher.
