Artist-led workshop for teachers
We are very excited to offer both primary and high school teachers the opportunity to participate in a two-day professional learning workshop, delivered by celebrated Australian artist Deborah Kelly.
Discover the witty art of collage as you play purposefully with pictures and acquire the technical skills to create your own high-quality works. Over two days encompassing storytelling, readings and conversation, Deborah Kelly will show you the cutting and composing practices of collage. You will be shown safe methods and tips for getting those very fine cuttings while you start to find, build and compose a number of works. Deborah will introduce you to her private collection of obsolete images – a treasure trove of abandoned art and science histories – and show you how to dissect them from their original contexts to make new art from their remains.
Deborah Kelly’s works have been shown around Australia and across Europe, Asia and the Americas. She is the recent recipient of four art prizes, Cayte Latta Memorial Award for Visual Art, Albury Art Prize, Fisher’s Ghost Award and the Screengrab International New Media Art Award. Deborah has been also been included in the biennales of Sydney, Thessaloniki, Singapore, Venice and TarraWarra.
