The Primary Dance Workshops have been developed in response to a significant demand for dance experiences for students in Years 1 to 6. These workshops are an excellent opportunity for students with talent and skills in dance to develop in this art form.

About the program

The Primary dance workshops cater for students in Years 1 to 6 and are delivered at the newly renovated professional studios at Sydney Dance Company. Students are exposed to a variety of dance styles across the contemporary and commercial dance industries and develop their dance technique, creativity and performance quality in a fun and engaging environment led by industry professional teaching artists. 

All the workshops are tailored to meet the learning needs of students from diverse backgrounds, including those with different skill levels and prior dance experience. The teaching artists support individuals to work within their own capabilities and encourage all students to experience dance in a positive and inclusive environment. 

2024 dates

Following our popular workshops in May 2024, we have now added a second series in July. These workshops are intended for students who have not yet attended a workshop this year. 

  • Years 1 and 2 – 1 day workshop; Thursday 25 July 2024; 10:00 am – 2:00 pm cancelled
  • Years 3 and 4 – 1 day workshop; Friday 26 July 2024; 10:00 am – 2:30 pm
  • Years 5 and 6 – 2 day workshop; Tuesday 30 and Wednesday 31 July 2024; 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
  • Years 4–12 boys workshop; 1 day workshop Friday 2 August 2024 Time: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Cost

  • Years 1 and 2 $65.00
  • Year 3 and 4 $75.00
  • Years 5 and 6 $150.00

A 25% rural and remote subsidy is available for eligible students attending a rural and remote school.
