The Arts Unit Solo Vocal Camp is a 5 day residential camp and is open to all students in Years 8 to 12 currently enrolled in a NSW public school.
Solo vocalist students participate in individual and group workshops with industry professionals. Sessions include stage presence, song interpretation, audition techniques and vocal health.
About the program
The Arts Unit Solo Vocal Camp aims to develop the singing skills of students in Years 8 to 12 from NSW public schools. Students attending the camp will participate in individual and group workshops. These workshops are conducted by industry professionals and creative team members for the annual Schools Spectacular.
Students will participate in a range of workshops on vocal technique, stage presence, song interpretation, audition techniques, vocal health and styling.
At the conclusion of the camp, students will showcase their performance skills as part of a group and as a soloist at a concert at the University of Wollongong in the Great Hall.

Camp location: Wollongong Surf Leisure Resort
Concert information: University of Wollongong Great Hall, 7:00 pm, Thursday 26 May 2022.
$600 per student.

Students will be selected by a video audition. Students are asked to present two contrasting pieces in their audition video. An example of this could be a ballad and an up-tempo piece in your chosen genre or pieces from two different music styles, i.e. Rock and Musical Theatre. Each video should last for no longer than two minutes. Videos must be uploaded to YouTube and marked as unlisted.

Industry professionals in the music, entertainment and arts industries are invited to apply to be tutors for the camp.
In 2022, NSW Department of Education school based staff are unable to apply. This is due to critical support being needed in schools at this current time.
