Duration: 4:14

Callaghan College Jesmond Senior Campus students created this video, titled Wave Ridrz: Urban Tides, to celebrate the Australian city of Newcastle. This video highlights Newcastle’s history, community, and stunning geography through drone footage. Students express their ideas in this video using an original hip hop song, which aims to show audiences what a wonderful and truly unique place their city by the sea is. Through the use of LLM (large language model) and generative artificial intelligence tools, students from Callaghan College Jesmond Senior Campus incorporated features of digital creativity to enhance their own creative ideas in this video.

KY EDEN: Long ago, kangaroos were once divided into 2 groups, male and female. One day, a male kangaroo broke the law by attacking a female wallaby. As a result, he was banished forever. Chased by the wallabies, he reached Muloobinba, known as Newcastle, and sought refuge on Nobbys Island, where he remains hidden to this day.

AUSTIN BOYD: There's a city by the sea where the sun shines down. With an obelisk and Nobbys Headland, great views all around. Relaxing, calming white waves crashing down onto the sand. From the Bogey Hole to the City Hall, we walk on Awabakal land. That's Newcastle, a great place to live. It's the best city on Earth, that's what we give. From Civic Park to Darby Street, where there's always something to do, and the vibes are straight wicked. It's all true.

Down Darby Street, a vibrant place, where art and coffee set the pace. Passing by Ramjet and Blackbird Corner, feeling the vibe, getting warmer. The murals on the walls, they tell a story of the city's history in all its glory. From shops and galleries to cafes to bars. Cooks Hill's heart beats with creative arts. That's Newcastle, a great place to live. The best city on Earth, that's what we give. From the ocean baths to the Obelisk, always something to do, and the people are legends, it's all true.

In the hot summer, we drive to Newy Beach, and the crowds are loud, but within our reach are the waves, and they are a surfer's dreams. We swim and eat hot chips and ice cream. So come down to Newcastle and soak up the sun. With the beach and the city, this place can't be outdone. With the salty sea air and the milkshakes so cold, Newcastle is the perfect place to never grow old.

Yo, King Edward Park, where the vibes stay high, sliding down the hill, reaching for the sky. From the rotunda's stage, where dreams unfold, Newcastle's gem where stories are told. Shepherd's Hill fort, holdin' history tight, whispers tales of a bygone fight. In this concrete jungle, it's a natural escape. Here in Newy, where history takes shape. In Newcastle Harbour, where the vibes are alive. Cruisin' on the Stockton Ferry, we strive.

Newcastle Harbour, the beat of our town. With the working harbour, it never lets us down. Honeysuckle's our home, where dreams come alive. Newcastle's rhymes, forever we'll ride. From the harbour to the streets, it's our hip hop sway. Newcastle pride, we rep it every day. From the dopest beaches to the hectic streets, where street art weaves tales and rhymes meet. This city's soul, where the culture roars. Newcastle Harbour, now and forevermore.
