GIRL: Once upon a time, there lived a group of cheeky students who refused to eat their vegetables.

[guitar music]

SINGER: (singing) The students had quite an appetite,

They really love to eat,

Chocolate biscuits, sticky cakes, and every sort of treat.

But one food made them feel so crook, one food they did hate,

They went green and would not eat the veggies on their plate.

So they'd stuffed them under chicken bones,

Hide them under fat, slip them in the pockets-- lots of kids do that.

Bury them in the pot plant, drop them in their drink,

Mush them in the gravy, or push them down the sink.

Now the kids, they said that cauliflower tastes like dirty socks.

They wouldn't eat zucchinis for a dozen chocolate blocks.

So they had to keep trying, they had to persevere

And keep on finding new ways to make veggies disappear.

Oh, they'd feed them to the bunny rabbit, stick them to the cat,

Squash them in the dog food, and underneath the mat.

Suck them up the vacuum cleaner, flush them down the loo,

And secretly conceal them underneath their shoe.

Now the kids just hated broccoli, they wouldn't eat their peas.

They said that eating Brussels sprouts was worse than a disease.

The very sight of spinach was enough to make them chuck.

So secretly they kept inventing ways to hide the muck.

Well, they'd open up the windows and toss them on the lawn.

Flick them underneath the fridge till every one was gone.

Stick some up their nostrils, pop a couple in their ears,

Slip a few behind the lounge that won't be found for years.

Well, came the fateful, dreadful day, the kids were down and out.

All the veggie vanishing tricks had all run out.

There was no escaping to the North or to the South.

They had to put their veggies right inside their mouth.

But when they actually tasted them, they said, oh my! This tastes great!

Their families were shocked to see the veggies that they ate,

So they searched out all the veggies that they'd ever chucked away.

They were all dried up and crusty, but they ate them anyway.

GIRL: The students searched high and low for all their vegetables, so they could eat them all up. I think I will go eat my crunch and sip now.
