BARBARA: Welcome back to the 2023 Bush Olympics, which is taking place in the state-of-the-art bush playground at Jannali East Public School.

[news introduction music playing]

BRUCE: I'm Bruce, and this is Barbara. And today we'll be your hosts.

BARBARA: We now cross to the athletes, as they warm up for today's events.

[dramatic music playing]

Let's get right to it, Bruce.

BRUCE: Let's, Barbara.

BARBARA: Our first event for today, Bruce--

BRUCE: Yes, Barbara. It is so exciting.

BARBARA: Bruce, our athletes are so strong.

BRUCE: They are, certainly, Barbara.

BARBARA: Oh, no. What is France doing, Bruce?

BRUCE: I'm not sure, Barbara.

BARBARA: We better jump to our next event before we miss it. Oh, our famous rope course-- this is a tricky one.

BRUCE: If you say so, Barbara.

BARBARA: Hold on. What's happened to Greece? [snoring] Is that snoring I hear?

BRUCE: Well, if you snooze you lose, Barbara.

BARBARA: Scotland is not impressed. Oh, my gosh. Is France still sliding?

BRUCE: Looks like they have slid into last place, Barbara.

BARBARA: Well, Bruce, we have eliminated France and Greece. I wonder who will take gold.

BRUCE: Well, let's go back and find out.

BARBARA: I love acrobatics. Check out those jumps, Bruce.

BRUCE: It will be a close one, Barbara.

BARBARA: Yes, Bruce, down to the technique, I think.

[dramatic music playing]

Oh, Scotland has done a double bounce.

BRUCE: He has taken a flight, Barbara.

BARBARA: Oh, that's gotta hurt. I know, Bruce. We have eliminated Scotland, a country close to my heart.

BRUCE: That's sad, Barbara.

BARBARA: Oh, well. Let's see who will win the next round. Now let's listen to the beautiful music event.

[sound of instruments being played]

GIRL: (singing) La la la la la la la

BARBARA: Hold on. I think we were saying they would be auditioning for 'Australia's Got Talent.'

BRUCE: You're right, Barbara.

BARBARA: A wonderful performance from USA, just not the performance that we were after.

BRUCE: Interesting, Barbara. Let's cut back to the field. Rock climbing, my favourite.

BARBARA: And our final event for today. They're off to a rocky start, Bruce.

BRUCE: Indeed, Barbara.

BARBARA: Oh, Bruce, I think Australia will take gold.

BRUCE: England has hit rock bottom, Barbara.

BARBARA: And they've done it, Bruce. Australia has taken the gold.

BRUCE: They did, Barbara.

BARBARA: Well, what a day. We have loved being your hosts.

BRUCE: Thank you, and good night.
