Learning to Fly

Duration: 4:47

Set against the iconic background of Taronga Zoo and the Coffs Harbour jetty as well as numerous school halls and ovals, Learning to Fly features more than 300 students from 28 Secondary schools across NSW.

With a focus on rural and remote schools, students from Coffs Harbour Senior College were delighted to be featured on their home turf, along with 8 other schools from rural and remote areas, allowing them to connect, virtually, with their peers in Sydney.

Learning to Fly is not only visually spectacular but also carries a message about a growth mindset: that individual talent can be nurtured and developed through hard work, good work strategies and support.

GIRL: (SINGING) We used to be able to dance on the table with nothing but stars in our eyes.

GIRL: (SINGING) Where we'd make believe and with all of our dreams we would colour outside of the lines.

ALL: (SINGING) Don't you ever wonder when it happened? How did fun turn into fear? Now I'm standing on the edge of now or never and the skies are looking clear, oh.

Oh-ma-ma, eh-ah-ma. Oh-ma-ma, eh-ah-ma. I'm still learning to, I'm still learning to, oh-ma-ma, eh-ah-ma. Oh-ma-ma, eh-ah-ma. I'm still learning to, I'm still learning to fly.

Oh-ma-ma, eh-ah-ma. Oh-ma-ma, eh-ah-ma. I'm still learning to fly.

BOY: (SINGING) Been learning to hide in tall buildings, to seek all the millions and hang like the suits and the ties.

GIRL: (SINGING) But that voice deep inside us is tryin' to remind us what it means to be alive.

ALL: (SINGING) Well, don't you feel that we're running in circles? How did days turn into years? Now I'm standing on the edge of now or never, and the skies are looking clear, oh.

Oh-ma-ma, eh-ah-ma. Oh-ma-ma, eh-ah-ma. I'm still learning to, I'm still learning to, oh-ma-ma, eh-ah-ma. Oh-ma-ma, eh-ah-ma. I'm still learning to, I'm still learning to fly.

Oh-ma-ma, eh-ah-ma. Oh-ma-ma, eh-ah-ma. I'm still learning to, I'm still learning to fly.
