Filmed entirely on Country by 16 local schools, Totems connects 172 students through contemporary Indigenous dance. Performing locally inspired choreography as well as choreography from Bangarra Dance Theatre’s Youth Program, schools filmed their work in metro, rural and remote locations, choosing incredible landscapes significant to their totem.

Totems define Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' roles, responsibilities and relationships in their kinship system and creation stories. Totems Ngurambang and Totems Bandalang showcase different schools in their exploration of culture.
