Film festivals application form 2023

Film @ The Arts Unit is a program that supports teachers and students in the exciting world of filmmaking. By participating in live and online festivals, showcases, events, and awards, you can celebrate and share your students' filmmaking achievements. 

Open now are 2 exciting festivals to be part of: Film By Online (Kindergarten to Year 8) and the CApture Film Festival (Years 9 to 11).

To enter Film By Online and CApture:

  1. Use this form to enter your films. Applications open 17 July.
  2. Submit your completed films via the Hightail upload links provided and scripts via this form by 13 October. 
  3. Sign your Authority to publish form and keep it at school.

All films submitted should: 

  • be 3.5 minutes in duration or less, including credits for Film By festivals.
  • be between 3 and 5 minutes in duration for CApture Film Festival
  • be age appropriate and conform to a G rating
  • be appropriate to the skill level of the participating students
  • only include students’ first names in the credits
  • be original works created in accordance with copyright laws
  • represent the department's values and beliefs
  • be created by NSW Department of Education teachers and/or students
  • have a script submitted
  • include a poster to advertise the film that has been made
  • include the signature item ‘window’ (CApture only).

When you upload your file into Hightail  please ensure your file is labelled correctly:  

  • Media file name – Name of film.MP4
  • Full name – Teacher’s name
  • Email – Teacher’s email
  • Message – Write the name of your school
