Primary Aboriginal Dance Workshops
Students develop their cultural awareness and contemporary Aboriginal dance skills in a fun and engaging setting. During this one-day workshop, students work with industry professionals.

About the program
This is an exciting 1-day workshop for primary students (Years 3 to 6) who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and attend a NSW public school. The workshop is suitable for both experienced and non-experienced dancers.
In this workshop, students will explore contemporary Indigenous dance and movement. These energetic and engaging workshops are run by a team of experienced First Nations dance tutors in collaboration with the NSW Department of Education Arts Unit.
Up to 10 students per school can attend the workshop as a group with a supervising teacher. A maximum of 2 students can attend the workshop unaccompanied with prior email approval from the program coordinator, Ashley Napoleoni – ashley.jones29@det.nsw.edu.au

Workshop information
- Face-to-face workshops from 9:30 am – 2:30 pm
- Participation fee: $33.00 per student
- Open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in Years 3 to 6
- Teachers are required to upload a payment advice form into their application.
- Teachers are required to retain copies of the permission to publish form for each participating student.

During the workshop, students will explore a contemporary indigenous dance style as well as some traditional dance and movement. These workshops will be run by a team of professional Aboriginal dance and choreography tutors from indigenous backgrounds.
