Primary Aboriginal Dance Workshops

Years 3 to 6 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students

Students will develop their cultural awareness and contemporary Aboriginal dance skills in a fun and engaging setting. Students work with industry professionals during this one day workshop.

Applications for the 2022 Primary Aboriginal Dance Workshops are now open.

About the program

This is an exciting one day workshop for primary students (Years 3 to 6) who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and attend a NSW public school. The workshop is suitable for both experienced and non-experienced dancers.

In this workshop students will explore contemporary Indigenous dance and movement. These energetic and engaging workshops are run by a team of experienced First Nations dance tutors in collaboration with the NSW Department of Education Arts Unit.

Up to 10 students per school can attend the workshop as a group with a supervising teacher. A maximum of 2 students can attend the workshop unaccompanied with prior email approval from the program coordinator, Ashley Napoleoni – ashley.jones29@det.nsw.edu.au

Aboriginal Dance Program - Primary workshops promo

During the workshop, students will explore a contemporary indigenous dance style as well as some traditional dance and movement. These workshops will be run by a team of professional Aboriginal dance and choreography tutors from indigenous backgrounds.
