McCallums Hill Public School – Journey from the Coast
McCallums Hill Public School is located in Roselands, south-west Sydney, on traditional Bidjigal land.
The Sea Lion class at McCallums Hill Public School created a body of work titled Journey from the Coast, in reflection of this year’s Connections Showcase theme. The class’s artworks, when exhibited together, take their audience on a journey through the city, the country, and the coast. This journey was inspired by a writing task that explored travelling.
The yellow house located in the centre is a symbol of home, representing how no matter where you journey in the world, you always have a place to call home.
These artworks were also included in the ‘Connections Showcase Submission Exhibition’ at McCallums Hill Public School, where students, teachers and parents were invited to view and celebrate the 4 bodies of work submitted by the school in this year’s digital showcase.
What did the students and teachers have to say?
- ‘The students really enjoyed exploring different colours and tools to create texture and depth in their artwork. They all worked hard to ensure that their artwork was personal to them and had a great time creating!’ – Miss Holborow (teacher)
- ‘We went to the city.’ – Zachariah (student)
- ‘I like painting with the can.’ – Massimo (student)
