Schofields Public School – Uptown Funk
Schofields Public School is located in the south-western suburbs of Sydney on traditional Darug land.
Schofields Public School’s students from Years 2 to 6 in the Mallee class enjoyed bucket drumming as part of their music lessons each week this year. In these classes, students learnt about duration, rhythm and pitch.
Each week they learnt more about rhythm, practising quavers, crotchets and rests. By the end of the term, all students did an incredible job with the tricky rhythms in their performance piece, Uptown Funk.
What did the students and parents have to say?
- 'I had so much fun drumming with Mrs McGuiness in Term 2. We learnt so many fun songs. My favourite part was the Mario Kart rhythm warm-ups.' – Akshveer (student, 9 years old)
- 'Awesome job Mallee.' – Cheryl (parent)
- 'Wow!' – Archana (parent)
