Pillars of design

What are the 3 key facets of design?

Imagine the wall in the following diagram as a great film. Each block of sandstone is an element of the film. Each element combines to create the film.

There are 3 key facets to this wall. There are 2 pillars which support the wall and the arch. Then there is the keystone in the middle of the arch, which holds the whole structure in place. Without the keystone in place, the arch would fall.

The pillars stand for the story on one side and sound on the other. The stone supports the whole arch; this is the camera. The whole film is supported by combining camera size, position and movement in unique ways.
