Pulse Alive

Drama ensemble

The Pulse Alive team are seeking interested students from Years 7 to 12 in 2025 from NSW public schools to form the drama ensemble for Pulse Alive 2025.

How to apply

Applications are now open for individual students to nominate for the drama ensemble in Pulse Alive 2025.

Please complete the Pulse Alive 2025 – drama ensemble nomination form by Monday 2 September (Term 3 Week 7).

On your nomination form you will need to list your experience, as well as indicate the name of the drama teacher/coordinator at your school. This teacher will be contacted in late Term 3 to endorse your application and provide any comments on your suitability for this ensemble.

We encourage you to spend some time on your written application to ensure that it best represents your abilities, interest and aptitude.

Final selections will be made to ensure the most appropriate students are part of the ensemble, and the widest range of schools, regions and ages possible is represented.

Eligibility and selection

Nominations are open to students in Year 7 to Year 12 in 2025 who will be enrolled at a NSW public school.

The drama ensemble will work with a professional director to devise a piece for the arena, set to one of the pieces of music in the show.

Students applying to be part of the drama ensemble should have some experience performing in drama projects with ensembles and working collaboratively with other students, both from within their school and from other schools.

Please note, this category is only open to individual performers. Students selected as members of the drama ensemble will not be able to participate with their school group in an additional category.

Successful students will require the endorsement of their school principal to participate. Students are encouraged to discuss their nomination with a teacher at their school prior to submission.

Students participating in this category will be supervised by members of the Pulse Alive team. Schools will not be expected to provide a teacher for duty of care of these students.

Due to the limited number of rehearsals for the ensemble, any rehearsal missed due to illness (with a medical certificate) will need to result in the student's role in the ensemble being modified.

Costume

The costume for the Drama Ensemble will include a coloured Pulse Alive t-shirt, included within your student resource fee.

Members of the Drama Ensemble will be asked to supply blue denim jeans, white sneakers and white socks to go with your Pulse Alive t-shirt.

Resource fee

There will be a resource fee of $120 per student (GST inclusive).

The resource fee assists with the costs involved in the conductors, choreographers and tutors working with the students, supports a number of music clearance costs and includes a Pulse Alive t-shirt, which will be worn by all performers as their costume during the event.

The drama ensemble will be required to pay the resource fee through The Arts Unit student payment portal on acceptance into the show.
