Connections Showcase 2024

McCallums Hill Public School – Digitally Me

McCallums Hill Public School is located in Roselands, south-west Sydney, on traditional Bidjigal land.

Students at McCallums Hill Public School in 4–6M created wonderful artworks based on the theme 'This is Me'.

They had the opportunity, through pre-questioning, to share their favourite things and their interests. After this, students were able to select images from the internet and write or draw on a card sheet of their chosen colour. The key aspect of this process is that each student has a high degree of input in an artwork that is intended to be purely about them.

These artworks were also included in the ‘This Is Us! – Connections Showcase Exhibition’ at McCallums Hill Public School, where students, teachers and parents were invited to view and celebrate the 4 bodies of work submitted by the school in this year’s digital showcase.

This exhibition was held as part of Public Education Week 2024.

A student holds his completed collage. He is smiling. The collage has cut-outs of images on a deep purple background.

What did the teachers and students have to say?

  • ‘It was nice to be able to find out what the students’ likes are in a bit more detail.’ – Mr Lofong (teacher)
  • ‘I liked how I was able to pick whatever I wanted.’ – Ezio (student, 12 years old)
  • ‘My favourite part of all of them is the anime character ... look at that bow!’ – Natalie (student, 11 years old)
