Welcome to the VET student production team nomination form for the 2025 NSW Public Schools State Dance Festival.
Students in the VET student production team work with the State Dance Festival production team and industry professionals to assist with the bump in, bump out, management and coordination of all elements of the production of the show.
This program will allow students to have the opportunity to experience several aspects of the show.
There will be a range of opportunities to work in areas of stage management and production such as:
This opportunity creates a valuable and authentic work environment for students to gain knowledge about the management of large scale events. All students will need to complete a work placement diary.
Students studying VET entertainment can complete their mandatory work placement hours by being a member of the team.

The Arts Unit, in collaboration with The Australian Ballet, will host a series of workshop opportunities for students from Years 3 to 12.
The 1-day workshops will be held at Tanya Pearson Academy and are taught by tutors from The Australian Ballet Education and Outreach Team.
The workshops are crafted around the students' skill level and cover ballet and contemporary technique through to repertoire and choreographic process. Students will take part in a warm-up, technical exercises, learn repertoire and explore choreographic elements.

Bush Studio: visual arts camp provides an opportunity for public school students in Year 7 and 8 to be involved in an engaging, challenging and stimulating visual arts program led by an experienced visual arts teacher.
The camp aims to provide students with an opportunity to observe, interpret and respond to their immediate environment at Ku-ring-gai National Park, Bobbin Head. Students will learn strategies to explore their immediate experience of the landscape to create preliminary works as departure points for resolved studio-based artworks.
Bushwalking in the Ku-ring-gai National Park will provide exciting opportunities for students to directly observe and visually document the subtle nuances of the natural environment using drawing and mixed media. Students will investigate ways to create sculptural works using natural found objects and use these sculptures to facilitate the making of drawings and monoprints. The program will culminate in an exhibition for families, friends and teachers.

Bush Studio: artist in residence is a visual arts camp for students in Years 9 and 10, especially those considering further studies in visual arts. Students are given the opportunity to work alongside a carefully selected artist to observe, interpret and respond to their immediate environment at Ku-ring-gai National Park, Bobbin Head. Previous artists in residence include illustrator Patrick Shirvington (2023) and abstract, process-based artist Emily Besser (2024).
2025 artist-in-residence Nicole Barakat is a Kfarsghabi, Lebanese artist living on the lands and waters of the Gadigal People. Nicole’s creative practice is rooted in remembering and re-gathering her ancestral knowing. She works with deep listening and intuitive processes with intentions to transform the conditions of everyday life. Her artwork engages unconventional approaches to art-making, creating intricate works that embody the love and patience characteristic of traditional textile practices. Her works include hand-stitched and hand-cut cloth and paper drawings, sculptural forms made with her own hair, cloth and plant materials as well as live work where she uses her voice as a material.

Tutors in the Drama Ensembles at Lewisham will work with up to 24 students from a range of schools to devise an original piece of theatre. Please note availability for the following dates:

The State Drama Camp is a residential camp that will run at the Collaroy Centre. Tutors work with an ensemble group to devise a work across the camp and provide skills-based workshops to a range of students.
This year there are 3 different camps running concurrently:
Schools of selected tutors will be given $600 per day for school release.

We are looking for industry specialists and expert tutors to run in-depth, specialist workshops across a few days of State Drama Camp (Tuesday 1 July - Thursday 3 July). Please select this option if you are interested in applying to be a specialist workshop presenter for any year group at this event for one or more days.
The State Drama Ensemble is a weekly intensive which will run during the school holidays from Monday 29 September to Friday 3 October. The 2025 Drama Festival will take place in Term 4 Week 2 at the Seymour Centre, Chippendale.
We are looking to build an inter-school drama ensemble somewhere in the north of Sydney. Dates, times and format are TBC and will depend on numbers, but select this option in the form below if you are interested in hearing more about this opportunity.
A collaboration on HSC group devising. Workshops occur over 2 separate days, with dates in 2025 TBC. Select this option if you are interested in being a workshop facilitator in this program.

In the Spotlight Play Day is an outreach drama program that provides public school students from Preschool to Year 8 with an innovative and inspiring opportunity to authentically engage in the Drama and English syllabus.
Workshop sessions will take place from 9 am to 3 pm as an incursion on the following dates:
Term 1 Week 8: Monday 17 to Friday 21 March 2025
Term 1 Week 9: Monday 24 to Friday 28 March 2025
Term 1 Week 10: Monday 31 March to Friday 4 April 2025
The student showcase will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday 3 June 2025 (Week 6 Term 2) at Campbelltown Arts Centre.
